 DEFINITION
The warts are a few very frequent high injuries of rough surface in the children, caused by virus of the family of the papilomavirus, much extended in the whole world. There are different types of papilomavirus, which cause different types of warts.
LOCATION
The most frequent location of the warts is in the fingers, back of hands and feet, and extension surfaces of extremities (previous area of the legs and back of the arms). The size can change between several millimeters and a centimeter in diameter. The forms that adopt the warts are very varied:
- They can gather together forming big masses, or of linear form.
Warts subungueales: Under the fingernail. They can compromise the growth of the fingernail, and complicate the treatment. Filiform warts: In the shape of narrow rod. They usually appear in the eyelids and in the neck. Warts clusters of palms and you will plant: They appear in points of rest, and grow inwards, given the thickness of the epidermis in these areas. Juvenile flat warts: Slightly high and of yellowish brown color. They appear in the face and back of the hands.
TREATMENT
The warts are benign injuries that evolve towards the spontaneous healing, especially in the children, whose immune system ends up by eliminating them at the moment when it is competent opposite to the virus. The possibilities of treatment are multiple, and they depend on the grade of resistance of the injuries to the treatment, this is, of how much it is difficult to eradicate them. It is begun by less aggressive treatments, and the intensity of the treatment is increasing as it is necessary:
Prepared topics by means of lactic acid, acidic salicílico, podofilina, cantaridina... Some of them are commercialized in occlusive patches on the wart. Crioterapia (cauterization by means of local application of liquid nitrogen). - Electrocoagulación (cauterization by means of electrobisturí).
- Surgical eradication.
- Superficial radiotherapy.
