DEFINITION
|
The vasectomy is a surgery skill to tie the deferential conduits, which communicate the testicles with the seminal vesicle, where the sperms accumulate to go out in the ejaculation. By means of this skill there is blocked the way of the sperms of the testicle what produces a permanent sterility of the male.
SKILL
It consists of an incision in the halfway line of the skin of the testicles called scrotum, across which there are extracted two deferential conduits, which are cut and cauterize. Local anesthesia is used to render insensitive the skin. The injection does not produce pain, rather a light pinch. All this is realized in less than ten minutes.

RECOVERY
One does not feel pain after the operation, in most of the men only there happen a few light inconveniences that disappear in a few days. The appearance of a child is possible haematoma about the testicles that disappears in a few days.
There is recommended rest of one day or two after the operation, for what the most suitable thing is to intervene in Friday to return this way to the work on Monday. The intense efforts are not advisable at least for one week.
In one week the sexual relations can be resumed. Nevertheless, still there stay sperms that must be eliminated. This is obtained definitely after 15 ejaculations, for what will be necessary the use of contraceptive during this time. In most of the centers the sperms absence will be verified then to microscope in a semen sample. If the results are negative the contraceptive measurements will stop being necessary.
PROGNOSIS
There have been described spontaneous recanalizations of the deferential conduit some years after the vasectomy, but it is so improbable that it turns out to be rather exceptional.
The operation does not produce any alteration as for the frequency, potency or intensity of the sex, the orgasm or the ejaculation. The only difference is that the semen does not contain sperms, which does not change his aspect. These die "of old men" in the place where is realized the incision where they are reabsobidos for the organism.
It is true that if the sexual life was seen of some form affected by fear to a pregnancy, it is possible that it improves this one after the intervention. But the vasectomy must not be considered to be a solution to the sexual problems.
REVERSIBILIDAD
Two of every three males who, having been produced of vasectomy, decide to be fertile again, obtain it. The possibilities of success depend on the type of previous vasectomy and of the passed time. Over ten years it begins to be more difficult.
