 DEFINITION
|
A varicocele is an inflammation in the scrotum caused by (extensive) varicose veins. The blood cannot return well from the testicles the organism, because the valves of the veins are shaken. The veins then dilate, as it happens in other areas of the organism like the legs or the haemorrhoids, and are done of big size and very visible from the exterior.
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
Inflammation in the scrotum, more often in the right part. The inflammation is painful, and the area feels as if it was a worms bag. This sensation diminishes or even disappears on having lain down.

DIAGNOSIS
His doctor must feel carefully the inflamed area of the scrotum and introduce a light in the inflamed area. If the problem is a varicocele the light will not shine across the blood in the veins. Also it is possible to realize an examination with ultrasounds.
IS THE VARIOCELE SERIOUS?
The varicocele, for himself, is not a serious injury from a vital point of view, but yes it can cause a disorder that for some persons is serious: unfertility. For diverse reasons, the testicles can lose the ideal conditions to synthesize sperms, and for it they can diminish or even disappear of the semen.
TREATMENT
Surgical. When the unfertility is caused by a varicocele, the surgery is necessary for for to go well together (or, to cut the affected veins) the varicocele. This surgical procedure can be realized in ambulatory. Unless the varicocele causes unfertility the surgical tie is not realized usually.
