Of all the persons who present the above mentioned symptoms, between 50 and 70 % suffer a bacterial infection in the urethra or the bladder (cystitis); be already for the first time, or of ingenious appellant. 10 % is women with vaginitis and, the rest, they are men or women with syndrome uretral (the symptoms appear but there is no infection evidence).

PREVENTION
It is of big help to drink a lot of water. The women with infections of the urinal tract associated with the sexual relation (the symptoms appear in 12 p.m. later to the relation) should urinate just after this one. Also it is important to support a good hygiene, so much on the part of the affected person as for that of his couple. The good hygiene is that one suitable, neither excessively nor deficiently, and it is necessary to carry out with soaps adapted for the genital area, not excessively aggressive.
The practices of sure sex can diminish the risk of acquiring ETSs related to the uretritis.
So soon the symptoms appear it is important to obtain the suitable attention, in order to avoid the structural damage that can cause in the textiles a persistent inflammation or the plastered one.
SYMPTOMS
- I increase in the urgency and the urinal frequency.
- On having urinated, with intense heat or itch in the urethra and part discomfort sensation goes down the abdomen (to see Pain on having Urinated).
- It discharges uretral, that can be bloody or purulent.
The symptoms are lasting (chronic).
ANALYSIS AND TEST
- Analysis of urine, which can reveal the possible existence of an infection.
- Urine cultivation with antibiograma to confirm the infection, the causative agent and the most suitable antibiotic.
- Cultivation of exudado uretral or vaginal cultivation to discard any ETS.
- Cistoscopia, to examine the urethra straight. This not always is necessary, although if the uretritis does not become possible to recover, or it does not go so far as to determine his cause, it can go so far as to have to be realized.
TREATMENT
If there is infection evidence, antibiotics are prescribed and, after having taken the whole medication, a few serial cultivation is done, to confirm his efficacy.
The women who have presented repeated episodes of uretritis or cystitis can be prescribed by a dose of antiseptic postcoital (taken a little time earlier or after the sexual relation).
With syndrome uretral (symptoms without the infection evidence) it is possible to prescribe the persons fenazopiridina to diminish the discomfort on having urinated, if he does not go so far as to know the cause of the inconveniences, which can be great others (to see Vaginitis).
PROGNOSIS
In most of cases, it is possible to identify the causative reagent, and to initiate the appropriate treatment.
