 DESCRIPTION
A Coronary Unit is in fact an Intensive care unit, in which there are deposited patients who present serious cardiac problems, or who can transport serious consequences in case of be complicating. Such processes are, for example, the angina pectoris, the sharp infarction of myocardium, certain severe cardiac arrhythmias, the congestive heart failure that he does not answer to medication...
The peculiarity of the UCC (Unit of Coronary Care), as of the UCI in general, is that the patient is constantly, every minute of his stay, under the alertness of the team of Intensive, that it consists of medical personnel, infirmary, assistants and technical personnel.

THE HUMAN TEAM
Normally, although it depends on the type of center, the team is composed of doctors, infirmary and clinical assistants.
- the doctors: two different specialties usually take charge of these units: the Intensivistas, which are medical specialists in Intensive cares, and the Cardiologists, specialists in cardiology. The advisable thing is that they work coordinated and jointly. Sometimes, if in the center specialists form, there can be residents (doctors who are in specialization process).
- the infirmary: it is a question of highly qualified professionals, trained to detect the problems that could approach in very precocious phase, and to act in coordination with the medical quipo in his resolution. Also they are in charge of supervising the monitoring, of the maintenance of the venous routes, of administering the medication and in general of the proper works of his profession
- the auxiliary team: it realizes tasks of assistance to the rest of the team.
THE TECHNICAL TEAM
The patient is connected at all times to a monitor that is supervised from the infirmary control 24 hours of the day, and whose information is recorded continuously; also, in certain units there is the second monitor in the head of the bed, which has the same information since they get connected in network. The constants that two watch sound, at least:
- the electrocardiogram (ECG)
- the arterial tension (TA)
Although according to the type of patient and of the cause of the revenue there exist many other parameters that can need monitoring. Also, since one of the principal causes of revenue they are related to absence of oxygen in the cardiac textile, it is habitual that is chosen to provide extra oxygen to the patient across mask or other supply means.
Generally, oxygen is got for a mask, and wheys and medication are received for from a vein of the arm.
