It consists of the persistent distaste or appellant and the avoidance of any genital sexual contact with the couple. The alteration provokes marked discomfort or difficulties in the interpersonal relations.
The disorder of sexual distaste happens occasionally in men and with a lot of more frequency in the women. The patients complain about anxiety, fear or grief as regards the sexual situations. It can be a (primary) or acquired, widespread or situational disorder of the whole life (secondarily) (globally) (with a specific couple).
ETIOLOGY AND DIAGNOSIS
If it is of for life, the distaste to the sexual contact can owe to a sexual trauma, like incest, abuses or violation; or to be a consequence of a very repressive familiar ambience, sometimes promoted by an orthodox and rigid religious formation, or to have begun after a few first attempts of coitus that they produced dispareunia. In the latter case, even after eliminating the dispareunia, remains the memory of the pain.
When it is a question of a disorder of acquired type, with posteriority to a period of normal functioning, the cause can have to do with the couple (situational or interpersonal) or owe to a trauma or to dispareunia.
The distaste can generate a phobic answer (even of anxiety), in whose case there can be present also less conscious unreal fears of domination or of bodily harm. The situational sexual distaste can happen in persons who try or hope to have incongruous relations with his sexual orientation.
TREATMENT
The treatment is faced to suppress the underlying cause whenever it is possible. The election of a behavioral psychotherapy or psychodynamics depends on the diagnosis. When the cause is interpersonal the couple therapy is indicated, while the anxiety pictures can talk each other with antidepressants tricíclicos, inhibiting of the selective rereception of serotonina, inhibiting of the monoaminoxidasa or benzodiacepinas.
