SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS

• Pain in a generally intense and sudden testicle.
• Elevation of a testicle with the scrotum.
• Morning sickness and vomiting.
• Faint sensation.
• Distension.
• Fever.

SIGNS OF URGENCY

Pain testicular intense that appears spontaneously or after a strong physical activity.

DESCRIPTION OF THE TORSION TESTICULAR

The testicles are placed in the scrotum, out of the abdominal cavity. This allows the temperature of the testicle to be something low than that of the rest of the body, which is essential for his function. Inside the scrotum the testicle is fastened for a structure, called a spermatic drawstring, which it nourishes of blood to the testicle; otherwise the testicle has certain movement freedom inside the scrotum. Sometimes the testicle turns if the same, writhing the spermatic drawstring and without being able to return to his initial position. This does that the blood contribution to the testicle is interrupted, giving place to this picture.

The torsions testiculares appear sometimes without apparent cause, even during the sleep. Other times appear after a strong physical activity.

The torsion testicular is rare. When it happens it happens normally in children and, sometimes, during the puberty. Anyway, it can appear at any age.

DIAGNOSIS

An intense, local, often accompanied pain by morning sickness, vomiting or faint, which does not seem produced by a physical work, he suggests a torsion testicular. Anyway, the same symptoms also an inflammation can produce them in the scrotum or a tumor. The symptoms of a torsion testicular and an epididimitis they are similar. A way of distinguishing between two ailments is to hold the aching testicle being standing up: with the torsion, the testicle probably hurts more than with the epididimitis.

In some cases a surgical procedure is necessary to establish the diagnosis and to correct the torsion testicular.

HOW SERIOUS A TORSION TESTICULAR IS

If it notices a strong pain in a testicle go to the doctor. If the torsion does not disappear at a few hours, the testicle can atrophy, fill with blood and he will have to be extracted from the scrotum with surgery.

It is very strange that the crooked drawstring straightens up without a medical intervention.

TREATMENT

Surgical

If his surgeon has had a torsion testicular it will realize a corrective operation to return the testicle to his normal position and to place it in his place. Another testicle also is raised and placed in his place to prepare a possible torsion in the future.

Other therapies

Sometimes it is possible that his doctor, manipulating carefully the crooked testicle could return it to his normal position. In this case the operation can be delayed although it will be necessary to do it to prepare possible future torsions.
