DESCRIPTION

The sarcoma of soft parts is an illness in which (malignant) cancerous cells begin to grow in the soft textile in some place of the body. The called "soft textiles" include the muscles, the sinews (bands of fibre that connect the muscles to the bones), the fibrous textiles, the fat, the blood glasses, the nerves and the textile sinovial (textiles about the joints). The soft textiles tune in, protect and surround the organs and other parts of the body.

Fortunately, the sarcomas of soft textiles are slightly frequent. In general they appear in children. There are many types of sarcomas of soft textile, depending on the nature of the textile where the cancer originates.

TYPES OF SARCOMAS OF SOFT PARTS

Rabdomiosarcoma. It is the most common type of infantile sarcoma of soft textiles. Also it happens in adults. It originates in the muscles that make a detour to the bone and it is possible to find in any part of the body.

• Fibrosarcoma: it originates in the fibrous textile of the arms and legs.
• Neurofibrosarcoma: it originates in the nerves close to the surface of the arms, legs and trunk.
• Leiomiosarcoma: it originates in the muscles of the trunk.
• Liposarcoma: it originates in the fat of the arms and legs.
• Sarcoma sinovial: it originates in the linings of the cavities of the articulaciónes and sheaths tendinosas (sachets of liquid that surround and protect the sinews) in the arms, legs and trunk.
• Hemangiopericitoma: it originates in the blood glasses of the arms, legs, trunk, head and neck.
• Alveolar sarcoma of soft parts: it originates in the nerves that go to the muscles in the arms and the legs.
• Malignant fibrous Histiocitoma: it begins in the fibrous textile of the legs.
• Tumor desmoide (fibromatosis): it is not a cancer, but it can make a mistake with a type of fibrosarcoma.

DIAGNOSIS OF THE SARCOMAS OF SOFT TEXTILES

If a patient has symptoms or signs of sarcoma of soft textile, the doctor might request different X-ray studies (x-rays) and other tests. There can be necessary a biopsy (to cut a textile piece to examine it to the microscope, in order to determine the presence of cells cáncerosas).

TREATMENT AND PROGNOSIS

Since, on having spoken about sarcomas of soft textiles, we are speaking, in fact, about many different illnesses, the probability of recovery (prognosis) and election of treatment will depend on the type, location and stage of the tumor and of the age, size, stage of development and state of health in general of the patient.
