DEFINITION
Surgical procedure consisting of the resection of aberrations of the alveolar bone that cause annoyance and inflammation and prostheses prevent the correct support of one. The nodes or sharp combs can be:
- acquired after extractions or hiperplasias alveolar,
- congenital (torus, combs, apófisis).
SYMPTOMS
The most habitual indication is that the presence of abnormal reliefs they prevent the seat of the prosthesis or cause ulcerations or chronic annoyance for decubituses.
SKILL
A history completes and a meticulous, physical and radiological exploration, they are fundamental to obtain a good diagnosis. It is necessary to realize previously a suitable radiology. The surgical resection can be a manual and/or with rotary set of instruments and must be limited to the indispensable minimum and preserve the periostio.
COMPLICATIONS
The possible complications can be:
- injury of anatomical structures (glasses, nerves, cavities),
- haematomas,
- edemas,
- neuralgias,
- hemorrhages,
- infections,
- formation of cicatriciales textiles or mucous tears,
- problems in the retention,
- relapse.
