DEFINITION
Prosthesis to restore the lost teeth that it cannot be withdrawn from the mouth by the patient and is realized in metal on which the esthetic faces of the teeth are placed to restore, in material acrylic (plastic). The bridge is cemented on prepared teeth (props) or on implants. The bridge is numbered as regards the quantity of pieces of which it consists.
SYMPTOMS
They are indicated in dental losses and when the remaining teeth that it is going to serve of props of the bridge, support a good frontal integrity and periodontal. Also it can be realized on implants. The loss of teeth can provoke diverse types of alterations or difficulties: digestive, of the joint temporomandibular, of the phonation and esthetics.
SKILL
A history, exploration and a correct diagnosis, along with a suitable position of the patient and of the professional, the use of a suitable skill and a few measurements of asepsis are essential norms for the achievement of a fixed bridge. First of all it is necessary to realize an evaluation of the occlusion and later there are anesthetized correctly the teeth that are going to serve as props. The suitable preparations are realized and the impressions take with the precise material following the indications of the manufacturer. After the emptying the bridge is made in the laboratory, which is proved, it fits and ends. Later one proceeds to the provisional and/or definitive case-hardened one.
COMPLICATIONS
The complications can be those of the treatments of the teeth that support the bridge. Sometimes it is possible to produce the descementado of the bridge, the break on behalf of the acrylic recovering, or the break of the proper bridge.
