WHAT IS?
The different types of psychotherapy are:
- PSYCHOANALYSIS
- HUMANIST THERAPY
- COGNITIVE - BEHAVIORAL THERAPY
PSYCHOANALYSIS
The psychoanalysis is based on the theory psicoanálitica postulated by the well-known Viennese neurologist Sigmund Freud between the ends of the XIXth century and beginning of the XXth, and that has gone reactualizándose. Of a form perhaps too synthetic, he conceives our psiquismo as slightly dynamic composed on one hand consciously and unconscious other one.
This theory postulates that, often, what does not allow us to live calm there are traumas of the past "hidden" in the unconscious one, and that we must do conscious to be overcome.
It is the famous therapy of the couch, of the introspection, of the free association. One asks the patient to say everything what he thinks without omitting the most minimal detail, for very insignificant or ridiculous that seems, because everything has a sense, enclosed the sleep. Thus a reconstruction of the vivenciado is done from the earliest infancy, since this perspective puts a lot of emphasis on the influence of this stage on our present emotional well-being. This provokes that it is a quite extensive type of therapy in the time.
HUMANIST THERAPY
The humanist psychology is a model of psychotherapy developed by C.Rogers, which values the person like fastened individual, it highlights his only character, and it is against therefore of the classifications. A humanist psychologist will never put a tag to you as for example to be manic depressive, firstly because he does not consider you to be a patient, and second because he does not think that you are classifiable inside a group, but only one. If every subject is particular, the perception is different, and therefore his behavior is different.
It is a positive model because he thinks that we are born with a potential of development that tends to mature, and with aptitude to take the reins of its own life. It pushes the illness concept back and that of patient and replaces it with that of client.
Psychologist - patient bases this therapy on the empathy, on the connection. It will turn into your "better friend". The work of the psychologist is not since to treat, but to make the personal character grow. The present matters for him, and not the past. It acts when this maturation process for because it is there when the psychological clashes arise. It is a part of his form of work considering positively and to accept everything all that the "client" says without value conditions, avoiding to correct him or to direct him to pre-established criteria.
It is applied principally to the disorders of the psychological development.
COGNITIVE - BEHAVIORAL THERAPY
From a cognitive - behavioral perspective it is known that to solve a problem it is necessary to modify certain conducts, these in a very wide sense, being considered between them the thoughts, the feelings and the emotions.
The cognitive - behavioral psychotherapy has two parts, for one it is the joint reflection on the problem. It is a responsibility of the patient to contribute entirely to the definition of the problem that is only what it worries him and takes him to consultation.
As soon as there was established the vision that the patient has of his problem, under the guide of his therapist, a functional analysis of the problem is realized, enunciating it in operative and modifiable terms. The targets of the therapy are fixed this way and the treatment begins. East consists of the establishment of a program to modify conducts, thoughts and excellent feelings for the maintenance of the problem.
This type of therapy seems to be able to handle the anxiety, since it has allowed to solve problems like phobias, obsessions and other associate disorders.
