 TO WHAT THE CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY DOES ONE DEDICATE?
The Clinical psychology is the area of the psychology it deals with the processes of health and illness. It understands the health holísticamente, trying to overcome the existing dichotomy between the physical health and the psychological health, that is to say understands the health as a quite biopsychosocial one.
DEFINITION OF THE AREA OF KNOWLEDGE
The Clinical psychology tries:
To assure the health processes in persons or groups (couple, family, communities, organizations).
To re-restore the health processes in persons or groups in which the above mentioned processes are not present.
AREA OF PROFESSIONAL EXERCISE
There differ two areas of work of the Clinical Psychologist and of the Health:
Clinical psychology, which centers on the clinical and mental disorders, as for example, disorders of the infancy, disorders related to the use of substances, schizophrenia, psychotic disorders, disorders of the frame of mind, disorders of anxiety and others. Psychology of the health, which deals with the psychological problems generated by the medical problems or with health in general, like for example the emotional problems associated with physical illnesses, problems of familiar support, problems for assumption of the patient's roll and others.

FUNCTIONS OF THE CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST AND OF THE HEALTH
- Evaluation and diagnosis
It consists of the skill of assembling information and defining the psychological functioning (behavioral, cognitive, emotional and social), establishing the severity grade and expressing and diagnosis together with the indication of an intervention, in case it was necessary.
- Intervention (treatment and rehabilitation)
He supposes the skill of understanding, relieving and/or solving the disorders or psychological problems from the interpersonal relation, by means of the use of diverse skills cognitive behavioral like the modification of conduct, the therapy, the psychoanalytic therapy, the systemic therapy, the existential therapy and the advice or psychological advice.
- Investigation
It implies the skill of raising excellent questions on the health processes and trying to answer them using designs and suitable procedures.
