DEFINITION
The chronic prostatitis is the inflammation of the prostate gland that is taking place of gradual form and continues for a long period, supporting light symptoms but in long time.

CAUSES
The chronic prostatitis is produced by a bacterial infection, which a sharp prostatitis usually associates with an urinal infection, an uretritis, an epididimitis different.
The causative bacteria are the habitual ones in producing the same way an urinal infection (Escherichia coli, enterococos, aeruginosa Pseudomonkey and Staphilococus aureus, etc...)

SYMPTOMS
In the chronic prostatitis the symptoms are weak but continued with more or less intensity by periods. But they can spend so sly that they do not exist.
They usually have precedents of urinal infections:
- Occasional light fever
- Low abdominal discomfort
- Pain between the genitals and the year
- Intense heat on having urinated
- Reduction of the flow of urine and difficulty to begin to urinate.
- Pain on having ejaculated
- Pain on having defecated
- Blood in the urine
- Semen with blood
- It urinates with unpleasant smell
- Incontinence
DIAGNOSIS
To the physical exploration by means of a rectal tact it is possible to observe that the prostate can be inflamed, bigger than normally, warmly and sensitively to the tact.
Then the analytical one is realized of urine with the capture of several samples:

In the urine analysis they will appear increase of white globules and in the third sample a bacterial growth. In the cultivation of prostate secretions it shows increase of the levels of white globules and major concentrated bacterial growth.
In the analysis of the semen the increase of the leukocytes can appear, with less sperms of the normal thing and of scarce motilidad.
TREATMENT
In the chronic prostatitis there are used antibiotics like the sulfamidas, the quinolonas or the tetraciclinas, the Eritromicina and the Nitrofurantoína. It is realized in long treatments from 6 until 8 weeks and probably much more, and in spite of it the symptoms are appellants.
They usually recommend some restrictions in the diet to avoid the food that irritate the bladder, like alcohol, the coffee, the citrus fruits and the strong spices. In addition to stimulating in drinking water in quantity for a few days.
The surgery transureteral is the last remedy if they do not transfer the symptoms.
