From 1940, the percentage of deaths in women with cervical cancer (neck of womb) has decreased 70 %, largely because many women have surrendered to a Papanicolau. Although it is not infallible, this test detects 95 % of cervical cancers and, what is more important, detects them in the state in which they are not seen to simple sight yet and, therefore, they can be treated and, almost invariably, treated.
