SITUATION OF THE AVERAGE EAR
|
|
|
The average ear is placed between the eardrum and the cóclea. It is a cavity with air in which there are the bones of transmission of the ear (I hammer, lenticular, and anvil) that join the eardrum with the cóclea. In the low part of this camera there is a pipe called Eustaquio's Horn, which is the natural drainage of the average ear with the pits of the nose. For this pipe the ear balances the pressures and supports a correct ambience for the transmission of vibrations.
In the healthy ear, the sound waves are transported across the ear and do what eardrum it vibrates. This, in turn, does what three huesecillos of the average ear move. The movement sends the sound waves across the average ear until they come to the internal ear. The internal ear sends the sounds towards the brain and this allows what the person listens to the sounds of the external world.

CAUSES
When a child presents an average earache the fact is that it has liquid accumulated in the average ear, which produces deafness, with or without pain. This affectation is in both ears.
The most frequent causes are:
- Infections of the ear time and again.
- Infectious obstruction of Eustaquio's horn.
- Mechanical obstruction of Eustaquio's horn (Vegetations).
- Allergic obstruction of Eustaquio's horn.
SYMPTOMS
The fundamental one is the deafness, but it is possible to associate to times inconveniences one is observed ears and pain, to serous secretion in the exterior of the ear.
The deafness can cause a delay in the speech, in small children, or learning alterations in major children. Sometimes these symptoms are those who make suspect the average earache more than the pain proper ones or inconveniences of the ear. Other times the first sign is to appreciate the need of the child of a high volume of television, or without answering the calls.
In the exploration of the ear there will be seen a few opaque eardrums (normally they are brilliant and pearly) with bubble presence in his interior. The audition test they will turn out to be altered in the air peripheral transmission, without injury in the direct or not air nervous reception. The cultivation of the exudado of the ear can show an infection for bacteria resistant to diverse antibiotics.
TREATMENT
Since it is always to suppress the causes:
- If there is a supported infection it talks each other with Ab (amoxicilina) 1 month or more time.
- If the cause is an allergy it talks each other with antihistamines, environmental control and vaccines, if it is necessary.
- If there are a few vegetations that compress Eustaquio's horn one is necessary an eradication of the same ones.
- If the causes are diverse and it is difficult the treatment realizes a canalization of the eardrum (miringotomía), by means of a pipe of well-established plastic, so that the liquid pressure does not make the audition difficult.
PREVENTION
- Not to smoke at home.
- Not to come to nursery schools.
- To adapt the ambience in families of allergic.
- To treat correctly the ears infections.
COMPLICATIONS
Sometimes it is possible to come to an irreversible deafness. The mastoiditis is a bony infection, which can complicate an average earache infected without suitable control. Other rarer complications are the colesteatoma and the abceso epidural.
