 DEFINITION
Element that allows to rehabilitate a tooth that has been treated endodónticamente and presents an important destruction, therefore the later laying of a crown becomes necessary. In this case the tooth is unirradicular, that is to say with only one root. The strained stumps present a part named bolt for the root and other one stump for the crown.
SYMPTOMS
They are indicated when there are very destroyed crowns, in teeth that are going to serve of prop of one prosthesis or are going to suffer forces oclusales (masticatory) important. The tooth must have been perfectly endodonciado (treatment of the conduit) previously.
SKILL
A history, exploration and a correct diagnosis, the use of a suitable skill and a few measurements of asepsis are essential norms for the achievement of a strained stump. First of all it is necessary to evaluate the occlusion. The strained stumps can be realized of two ways: with the "Direct Skill", with which a stump is made in mouth in wax or acrylic that later is sent to the laboratory for his gatecrasher; or with a "Indirect Skill" in which an impression of the preparation takes and in the laboratory the gatecrasher is made. In both cases later it is proved, fits and is cemented by the specific cement.
COMPLICATIONS
It is possible to produce: perforation of the root, break or radicular explosion, reabsorption radicular, loss of periodontal support, displacement of the sealed one periapical, descementación of the stump, break of the stump, etc.
