DEFINITION
The miocarditis is the inflammation of the muscle of the heart.
CAUSES
The miocarditis is a slightly frequent illness that can be caused by viral infections (Coxsackie, Citomegalovirus, Hepatitis C, Herpes, VIH, etc...), bacterial (Clamidia, Micoplasma, Streptococcus, Syphilis) and more rarely by fungi (Aspergillus, Candid, Histoplasma, etc.).
The infection for these agents usually stimulates the immune system of the affected individual and between these defenses there are products that they affect to the cardiac muscle producing the inflammation of this one to him.
When this happens there takes place an absence of efficacy of the cardiac contraction and hence an insufficiency of the blood pumping. This goes before which heart failure symptoms appear.
There are other causes of miocarditis as there can be the secondary ones to diverse medicines, and more often to quimioterápicos. and to rheumatic illnesses in addition to the sarcoidosis.
SYMPTOMS
The miocarditis cannot give symptoms but if they present before themselves there can be like arrhythmias, pain type infarction of myocardium, shortness of breath, fever, distension of ankles, and decrease of volume of urine.
DIAGNOSIS
In the physical examination it can appear arrhythmias, cardiac blows, abnormal noises in the heart, edema of ankles, etc...
Then it will be realized:
- Cultivation in the peripheral blood.
- Antibodies anti cardiac muscle
- Thorax radiography
- Electrocardiogram
- Ultrasound scan of the heart
- Finished Hematimetría
- VSG
TREATMENT
The treatment will realize depending on the cause of the miocarditis, in addition to general measurements with antinflamatorios, diuretics, diet poor in salt, rest, diet low in salt, antibiotics if anticoagulants are necessary, antiarrítmicos, etc...
