The congenital hip luxation is a malformation of the joint of the hip that appears in babies and newborn babies.

The joint of the hip is formed by a ball that is the end of the bone femur and a receptacle articulatorio in the shape of cavity to fit to this ball femoral dependent on the bone of the pelvis.
The luxation appears when both parts move and without coinciding appropriately they cannot be articulated appropriately.

The luxation can be important, that is to say that the ball is completely out of the cavity of the pelvis, or to be a minor and to be only slightly wrongly placed.
The cause is not known and sometimes small luxations cannot give symptoms up to an adult age.

It is usually more frequent in the first son, in the women more than in the men, and in buttocks childbearings. The appearance frequency is 1 for every 1000 births with a certain familiar tendency.

The congenital hip luxation can, as we have said, happen unnoticed up to 40 years. But the habitual thing is that it is possible to notice:

• A decrease of the movement in the affected side.
• The asymmetry in the position of the legs and in the creases of the thighs.
• If one allows to evolve an asymmetry can go so far as to be evident in the angles of rotation of the legs and a reduction of the affected leg.

The prevention depends on a precocious diagnosis in the newborn baby.

If the luxation is diagnosed an immobilization treatment is realized, at least nocturne that forces to enter the ball of the femur the cavity of the pelvis by means of an extension and draft of the thighs towards the exterior. It is realized by a rod or by a nappy of many consistency.

If the luxation is very important it is possible to do a surgical intervention to restore the joint to his correct state.

If the treatment is correct and precocious the resolution of the problem is entire.
