DEFINITION
It is the alteration of the voice produced by an anatomical injury in the organs of the phonation.
It can be produced for:
- Inflammation: edemas
- Infection
- Arthritis or artrosis (they have no healing because they take place for the age but with the speech therapy it is possible to improve very much the quality of the voice)
- Illnesses of the respiratory system (asthma, EPOC...)
- Endocrinological illnesses (hipotiroidismo, hipertiroidismo)
- Tumors:
a) benign: nodules, polyps.
b) malignant: larynx cancer (partial: the disabled rope comes out / entire: laringectomía)
- Alterations of the proper vocal cords.
a) Parexias (decrease of the movement of (s) ropes because or the muscle or the nerve are "sick")
b) Palsy of (unilateral - bilateral) rope (movement absence of (s) ropes because the muscle or the nerve are "dead")
- Congenital malformations: between which we can find:
a) Sulcus (distortion in an area of the mucous membrane of the vocal chord)
b) Vocal asymmetry (movement and uncorrective closing of one of the ropes)
c) Laringomalacia (anomaly of the larynx)
d) Congenital luxations (some part of the larynx is desencajada from the birth)
TREATMENT
In general most of this type of disfonías usually talk each other logopédicamente but in many cases it is joined and subordinated to a medical and/or pharmacological treatment.
PROGNOSIS
The prognosis is according to the grade of affectation and recovery of the affected area.
