DEFINITION
There are all those medicines that produce an increase of the intestinal rhythm generating a major frequency of the depositions.
They can do it for the increase of the mobility of the muscles of the intestinal wall: there are the called stimulants (Antraquinonas, Fenolftaleína, Bisacodilo, etc.). These have a direct action on the nervous completions of the intestine, especially in the colon. His action appears at 6-12 hours. They are very effective but they produce in most cases adaptation. The long use is not recommended, therefore.
The emollient ones (Docusato sódico), produce a dissolution of the greasy residues with the intestinal water of this form the dregs are softened and are eliminated by facility.
The lubricants (liquid Paraffin, Olive oil) produce a thick greasy recovering that covers the dregs, preventing the water loss for the same ones and doing m&aacutß easily his elimination.
Another group of laxatives produces increase of the intestinal skittle (Metilcelulosa, plantago Seeds, Agar) by what his elimination is stimulated. The problem is that they are late several days in doing effect.
The osmotic laxatives (sulfates, magnesium salt) produce a stimulus in the liquids exit towards the light of the intestine, therefore there increases the volume of the intestinal skittle and the increase of the peristaltismo is provoked also.
They usually use other physical laxatives as there are the suppositories of glycerin, castor oil, the Lactulosa, and the Lactitol, which the nervous reflexes of the defecation stimulate at level of the rectum.
