DEFINITION

The cataracts operation consists of the extraction of the part of the crystalline one that is opacificada to return the vision to the eye. In general it has a tendency towards his replacement for an artificial lens that is placed in the same place as the crystalline original (lens intraocular), or restoring the vision that had got lost as a consequence of the cataracts.

DESCRIPTION

The surgery is realized in a hospital or clinic. To the children by means of general anesthesia and it is possible to realize the adults I wake up or lightly lulled with local anesthesia.

I SPEND 1 - Extraction of the cataract.
A small incision is done in the rim of the revetment of the eye (cornea). A special microscope is used.

Three types of operations exist to remove the lens of the eye that has a cataract:

• Extracapsular surgery.
  The surgeon extracts the lens of the eye, but it leaves in his place the back of the capsule

• Surgery intracapsular.
  The surgeon extracts the lens of the eye completely, including the capsule. This this skill in desuetude.
  
• Faco-emulsification.

The cost of any surgery changes significantly between surgeons, medical facilities, and regions of the country.

• Anesthetist: 120,00 to 300,00 euros
• Hospital expenses, including taken care of infirmary and operating theater: 120 to 1.205,00 euros

• Other additional expenses, if complications exist (transfusions, etc...) or there are realized analysis or X-rays: 120,00 to 902,00 euros
