DEFINITION

The simple herpes of labial affectation is a very frequent illness caused by the infection of the virus of the simple herpes type I, which appears in the shape of eruption of more or less annoying small blisters, which appear in the lips, in the area perilabial or even in other surrounding areas of the face.

CAUSES

The primary or initial infection for the virus of the simple herpes type I can be asymptomatic or cause only ulcers in the oral mucous membrane, later the virus remains in form stationed in the textile of the nerves of the face.

The first infection of the virus generates the first symptoms one or two weeks after the contact with another infected person, the injuries of the cold sore remain during seven to ten days and then they begin to disappear doing a crust cicatricial. But since the virus has been said previously it remains latent in the structure of the nerves and can re-sprout again more or less often.

SYMPTOMS

The first thing that usually appears itch and intense heat is in the area that later will locate the eruption. The increase of the sensibility in the area and intense heat usually appears one or two days before the appearance of the typical injuries of the simple herpes that are:

• Eruption of the skin with vesicles located about the labioso or mouth.
• The vesicles contain a liquid yellowish skylight.
• They can join appearing red blisters.
• The area remains painful and with intense heat.
• Later both the vesicles and the blisters break and form a yellow crust.
• This crust will fall down to later leaving a skin cicatricial.
• Something of fever can appear and engrosamiento of the ganglions of the neck.

TREATMENT

The eruption can have an entire evolution of 10 days with or without treatment.
The precocious use, before the eruption, with antiviral (Acyclovir) diminishes the extension of the eruption, improves the inconveniences and lasts less days.
It is always necessary to support the very clean area to avoid bacterial infections.
To try to have precaution not to infect other persons both for direct contact and for the tools of meal or of hygiene newspapers.
