OTHER NAMES

Sarín gas, nervous gases, chemical warfare.

WEAK CHEMICAL WEAPON

  • The "tear gases" or "agents antideclarations"; between they represent the CN and the CS. The CS is less poisonous than the CN, and for that reason it is most used. With a small CS quantity it is possible to provoke ardor sensation in the eyes, lagrimeo abundantly, difficulties to breathe, oppression in the breast, morning sickness, desires to be sick, nasal secretion and involuntary closing of the eyelids. These agents outdoors it does not have problem of mortality but in closed ambiences they are not sure in this sense.

  • The "emetic gases" cause more serious effects. One of the most representative is called DM. His effects are similar to the caused ones by the CS, but more intense and persistent.

  • The "agents urticantes" produce in the affected individual the sensation of having been flagellated by hortiga sheets. They are more poisonous than the previous ones.

MORTAL CHEMICAL WEAPON

  • The "suffocating agents": his initial effects are similar to that of the gases antideclarations and emetic, but after periods of apparent recovery the mortal effects appear. As example of these is the "phosgene" (very irritating gas, it mixes of chlorine and oxide of carbon), produces a blood encharcamiento in the pulmonary alveoli, alters the diffusion of oxygen of the lung to the blood and as a result the mortal asphyxia.

  • The "gases vesicantes" produce painful pustules in the skin that can reach several centimeters of diameter. The most well-known is the "gas of mustard" so called "king of the gases". His inhalation produces suffocating effects and the contact with the skin you blister, in the eyes blindness. It is absorbed across the skin, for it the gas masks are not a sufficient protection to the same one.

  • The "disabling gases" ó "nervous gases": they are more poisonous than any other chemistry. These disabling gases affect the nerves that control the muscles and the enzymes inhibit organic that eliminate the substances formed on the nervous impulses. The called gases G are the GA (tabun), the GB (sarín) and the GD (soman), any of them is capable of causing the death with only one inhalation.
The gases V with only one small drop that turns out to be invisible can kill easily a man. These gases also are absorbed across the skin, for it it is not sufficient the gas masks.

  • The "gases incapacitantes" can be divided in two: the physicists and the psico-chemists. The physicists make the victim temporarily defenseless. The psico-chemists produce hallucinations or maniac fury. They do not act across the skin, for it they are easier to avoid them.

PROTECTION

  • Physical protection: protective suits, gas masks.
  • Medical protection: preventive, treatment. Depending on every poisonous agent.

Examples of protective suits:

  • Protection suits "Lantor Group":
This suit is designed to grant an effective protection from a wide variety of chemical agents, between which the mustard and the phosgene are, as well as also the nervous agents "G", like for example Sarin GB, Soman GD, Tabun GA and Vx. This suit can be kept comfortably in a purse or pocket of the uniform, due to his compact and light design (it weighs only 1,5 kg). Also, he stands out for two profitable characteristics: the first one, his limited water absorption capacity - which benefits the mobility - and the second one, his adaptability to varied climatic conditions. On the other hand, it offers 24 hours of protection to the exhibition, while his useful life reaches up to eight years. It has been designed to be permeable to the perspiration and big driver of the heat, factors that help to reduce the stress experienced during his use. The suit combines two textiles: the day pupil siliconado, retardador of fire, camouflaged, durable, that separates quickly the poisonous liquids to contribute with the evaporation, and the intern, who for his textile of activated coal, absorbs steams of chemical and biological agents.

  • Light suit "combat QBN Paul Boyé":
This suit is provided with protective systems against chemical and biological agents, for which it grants big physiological comfort. It uses C12C - material filtrante of chemical warfare agents - and can be used under extreme climatic conditions of heat and moisture. It is made by two layers: the interior one, which leaks poisonous steams-C12C - and another external layer, which assures liquid protection and mechanical resistance. His useful use time in an area scantly contaminated, is one month, while in situations with a poisonous concentration of 10 g/m2 - extreme situation for his use - his effectiveness spends 24 hours.
The above mentioned suit includes a sack with built-in hood and pants, quite which can be used straight on the skin or on underwear. It is provided, also, with gloves and blocks. As for the gloves, the team is provided with two pairs: the day pupils made with leather processed with repellent made on the base of water and oil, and the interns made with material laminated with C12C. The blocks serve to protect the foot; they are placed under the leather boots, and the material with which they are prepared is the same that that of the internal gloves.
