They qualify in phobias to animals (chandeliers, snakes, dogs...), to the natural ambience (thunderstorms, height, water...), to the blood / injection / damage, to situations (to travel in plane, elevator, conduction), and of another type.

The fears of objects or concrete situations are very frequent, both in children and in adults. The majority they are transitory and they do not alter, at least of important form, the daily functioning of the person. But some cases are enough intensity as to interfere in the development of the subject, and it is in these cases when these fears are named phobias.

In these phobias, the fear is not usually so much to the object or situation in itself, but topcoat to the negative consequences that it could have the contact with this object, or be in this situation. This way the fear will devote itself to the bite in case of phobia to the chandeliers, to the accidents in a phobia driving, to the asphyxia in a claustrophobia...

The subject avoids or escapes from the exhibition to the stimulus (object, situation or activity) fotógeno and, if it does not obtain it, you show immediately an intense anxiety reaction. He recognizes the irrationality of the fear, but he avoids the object or the situation, or supports it with intense discomfort.

These subjects experience anxiety only in spite of thinking about the possibility of confrontation with the phobic stimulus. When they are in the awesome situation, or anticipate it, deep discomfort and worry experience, simultaneously that somatic symptoms can appear: facial flush, perspirations, palpitations, quake, muscular tension, gap sensation in the stomach, mouth dries, shakes, etc...
