DEFINITION
The gumboil or dental abscess is an implied deposit of pus or infected material produced by a bacterial infection of the root of the tooth or millstone.
CAUSES
Normally there is a bacteria entry towards the root of the tooth or millstone for a caries or for mobility of the teeth for an illness peridontal previous.
The perforation in the dental enamel that takes place in the caries allows the bacteria to infect the interior of the tooth, the pulp, and on having evolved also, infects the root and even the adjacent bone.
On having produced the infection to him, bacterial garbage, white globules accumulate, etc... that form the pus and this one it occupies space giving a pressure in the area and an intense pain in the area.
SYMPTOMS
- Quite intense, sharp or shooting pain of the millstones with pulsation sensation.
- Pain in the masticating.
- Hypersensitivity of the tooth towards the heat or the cold.
- Bitter flavor in the mouth.
- Halitosis (bad breath).
- Fever or disturb.
- Painful inflammation of the ganglions of the neck.
- Inflammation and distortion of the face in the area of the abscess.
DIAGNOSIS
In the exploration of the dentist it is possible to observe well the painful sensibility on having struck lightly the affected dental piece.
The gums can be inflamed and turned red, being able to drain a thick material.
It is possible to confirm with a radiography of the area.
TREATMENT
They recommend to themselves antibiotics of wide bogey to fight the infection, collaborate to antinflamatorios type Ibuprofeno. Mouth rinsings collaborate with lukewarm water and salt to improve the inflammation and to encourage the drainage of the infection.
When the infection has yielded there is realized a treatment of the internal conduits of the tooth in an attempt for saving the tooth (endodoncia). Then the cavity that is created in the center is plugged and (filling) is repaired with compositae, or it is possible to place a crown on the tooth (case).
