The circumcision, or surgical correction of the prepuce, sometimes is needed by the parents to the birth or in the lactation, although rarely it is indicated for medical reasons. In any case, it should be realized only in nursing healthy and stable, and it is contra-indicated in the presence of any genital anomaly.
Yes circumcision indications can exist in males of major age.
A possible indication is the existence of the "fimosis" call, condition in which the prepuce presents a "fibrous ring" that prevents this one from being able to withdraw and the glans be discovered.
One believes that the fimosis is a congenital malformation; nevertheless in many cases the real fimosis are "acquired", caused for repeated forced and traumatic withdrawals of the delicate skin of the prepuce during the first years of the life.
Still in case of this condition, there exists the way of correcting it doing a simple surgical procedure that it allows to preserve to the prepuce for his functions in the adult age (sexual activity and protection), to what he is named plastia of the prepuce.
Another condition called "parafimosis" or difficulty exists in retracting the prepuce on the glans as a result of inflammation (distension) of the prepuce, that as the fimosis can solve with a surgery called plastia of the prepuce: small incision done with local anesthesia that allows to retract without problem the prepuce, and with the advantage of which the child male does not lose the prepuce and preserves his functions for later stages of the life.
