DESCRIPTION
The top cameras of the heart are called the auricles, and in normal situation they contract in every cardiac cycle of form coordinated with the lower cameras, or ventricles.
In some persons it can happen that the auricles contract much more often, from two to four times for every contraction of the ventricles. This situation is known as flutter or ear flapping.
Also it can happen that the walls of the auricles contract of rapid, uncoordinated and ineffective form, situation that is called an ear fibrillation.
Both the ear flutter and the ear fibrillation can take a mistake as a principal result in the function of the auricles that takes that in them suspends blood in every beat, since they cannot empty correctly. This blood suspended in the auricles can be a cause of that form clots or thrombi. If one of these thrombi comes undone and comes for the blood to the brain, it can cause a cerebral thrombosis.
CAUSES
An ear fibrillation can happen in the cardiovascular disease, in valvulopatías, in illnesses of the proper heart (miocardiopatías), and in other illnesses, including the hipertiroidismo. Also it is possible to give without apparent cause.
The ear fibrillation and the flutter are arrhythmias that can produce consequences. If they are detected in an ECG or in a record Holter, it is necessary to try to determine the cause that produced them, generally by means of an ecocardiograma or with other appropriate tests. In general they must talk each other, treating the cause that produced them. Sometimes it is necessary to add certain medicines. And in other occasions it is necessary to restore the normal rhythm by means of a small painless electrical shock (cardioversión electricity company).
