- The weaning of the child fed to the breast must depend on the needs of the mother and of the son. It is considered that the exclusive breast feeding prolonged for at least 6 months, is the ideal feeding of the nursing one.
- The moment to introduce the solid food depends on the needs and on the good disposition of the child, but the nursing ones do not need this food before 6 months of age.
- When the weaning is considered to be desirable, it is carried out little by little, throughout weeks or months, replacing a capture of the breast by a feeding-bottle or cup of juice of fruit or artificial milk, when the child has approximately 7 months of age. Nursing some of them keep on sucking one or two times a day in addition to taking other food, even even 18 ó 24 months.
- The solid ones must seek employment with spoon and it is necessary to introduce them one by one, to establish if they are tolerated.
- Some parents incite the child to take big quantities of solid food so that they sleep during the whole night, but there are no tests that endorse this custom.
- Many commercialized infantile food is very rich in starch, which lacks vitamins and minerals, it possesses a caloric suppressed high place and is very rich in cellulose, evil digested by the nursing ones. Others have also a high sodium content (> 200 mg/tarro), for what they are not advisable. The home-made purées are much more suitable.
- To avoid the nutritive sensitizations, it is necessary to avoid the consumption of eggs, fish and chocolate in the children younger than 1 year of age.
