 DEFINITION
The degeneration to blacken of the eye is an illness degenerative that it affects to the center of the retina in persons older than 60 years. It is the most frequent second cause of blindness in the elders, the diabetes.
CAUSES

SYMPTOMS
The most typical is the loss of visual keenness.
There are two forms of presentation with symptoms differences:
- the dry form is characterized by the loss of the central vision and is progressive. It is a central atrophy to blacken.
- the humid form is of sharper appearance and a distorted vision appears or of strange lines. It is a more diffuse atrophy with constant hemorrhages in the whole retina.
DIAGNOSIS
From typical symptoms since it is the loss of vision there is realized an examination of the fund of eye by means of the dilation of the pupil, in her there can be observed changes of the blood glasses. Also it is possible to realize an angiografía with fluoresceína.
This skill realizes by means of the injection of a coloring called fluoresceína, across the blood stream, then the retina is photographed in constant sequences, when the coloring happens for the glasses of the retina. Being able to appreciate the vascularización alterations with major clarity.
TREATMENT
Since the causes are not known, the treatment is slightly effective. There usually happen nutritional supplements of vitamins and Zinc.
If the affected glasses are not in the spot a coagulation is realized by means of laser to prevent the accumulation of shaken glasses from producing new hemorrhages, in case of degeneration to blacken humid.
The periodic control of the fund of eye can prepare the appearance of some forms of degeneration to blacken.
