SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
- Bundle or distension of a testicle. (To see in Image - A-).
- Possible local pain or sensibility.
- Hard tact in a testicle (sometimes).
The testicles cancer often begins in the cells that produce the sperm. The first symptom is a hard bundle of the size of a chick-pea. This bundle normally is not painful to the tact. In the first stadiums there are no other symptoms. Many men discover the tumor they themselves (to see Autoexamination of the Testicles). As soon as possible be discovered, better. Normally only fond of a testicle.
The cancer testicular is more frequent in young men, particularly between the 15 and 35 years, and it is more frequent in the white men than in the blacks. If anyone or two testicles have not descended for the birth, the cancer risk in any of two testicles is major. If it is detected and talks each other soon, the testicles cancer often is treated.
DIAGNOSIS
A self-examination can detect the presence of a possible growth or tumor inside the scrotum. The oversight in the rapidity of coming to the doctor to see if the pain is associated or not to the growth is very inadvisable. Therefore if a bundle is discovered visit his doctor without waiting. To confirm the diagnosis an examination will be realized with ultrasounds.
A tumor in a testicle is almost always a malignant (carcinogen), but the examination of a doctor is needed to determine or to make sure that the tumor is such. Other problems that they affect to the testicles and scrotum can produce a bundle that seems similar to the tumors but that they have no importance (to see Epididimitis, escrotales Masses, Hidrocele, Varicocele, Orchitis).
If it has a tumor in a testicle a surgical eradication will be necessary. If the tumor is malignant, it will be necessary to realize tests of blood, x-rays, and other analyses to see if it has spread to other places of the body.
IS THE CANCER OF TESTICLES SERIOUS?
More or less 70 % of the men to which a testicles cancer has been diagnosed lives up to 5 years ó more after the treatment. Anyway, these percentages include cancers discovered in very late stadiums. The most frequent type of cancer, called seminoma, can be treated in almost all the cases if it is discovered and talks each other soon.
TREATMENT
- Surgical
There is necessary the surgical eradication of the affected testicle. This does not imply loss of virility because the capacity that stays in another testicle is sufficient to support a normal sexual function, as well as a normal function in the hormones production. If two testicles have got lost there will be unfertility, but injecting masculine hormones every 3 weeks more or less a normal sexual function is supported essentially. - Other therapies
The radiation and the chemotherapy will be used to prepare that the cancer spreads to other parts of the body, as well as to fight it if it has begun to spread.
