 DEFINITION
|
The amenorrea is lacking in the normal cycles in the menstruation.
The amenorrea can be primary (a delay of the menarche beyond 17 years of age) or it would help (discontinuation of the menstruation of several months or years of duration after having had it normally).
CAUSES
The real primary amenorrea can owe to an illness of the ovary, of the pituitary gland or of the hyponuptial bed. The secondary one can owe to a pregnancy, to the menopause, to diverse hormonal or emotional alterations.

SYMPTOMS
In the primary amenorrea there can be:
- Height goes down.
- Infantile external genitals.
- Ambiguous external genitals with large clitoris.
In the secondary amenorrea:
- Signs and symptoms of pregnancy.
- Menopause shames.
- Familiar menopause precedents at early age.
- Traumatic experience or disorders psychological.
- Obesity and increase of the hair (Hirsutismo).
I DIAGNOSE
There will be realized a physical examination of the whole body to see the characteristics of sexual development and of the growth in general, in this study it is possible to foresee the possible existence of congenital anomalies or lacking in hormones.
For the pregnancy there is realized a study of the gonadotropina coriónica, which will be positive for elevation of this hormone.
For the menopause there is realized the measurement of the pituitary gonadotropinas and there appears an elevation of the number of these.
If a genetic anomaly is suspected there is realized a study of the cariotipo (chromosomes). Most of the patients have a chromosomal cariotipo of 45 X, but in women with problems there can appear bosses of mosaic as the following ones:
45 X / 46 XX, ó
45 X / 46 XX / 47 XXX
TREATMENT
In the primary amenorrea with ovarian alterations, medicines are used with estrogen - progesterone in the shape of rules to simulate the normal menstrual cycle and to develop the secondary sexual characteristics.
If it exists an abnormal development of the sexual organs realizes a plastic surgery with reconstruction of those that are compatible with the compatible sex.
In the secondary amenorrea, if it is for pregnancy an obstetric attention will be realized. If it is for menopause, it will pass to a support treatment with estrogen administered in cyclical form for the mitigation of the symptoms of the menopause.
In case of amenorreas of origin psicógeno cycles are applied with estrogen - progestágenos, in addition to helping psychologically the patient.
In case of pituitary gland tumors the treatment of these is realized.
