DEFINITION
The prebiotic food is that that contain not digestible substances that stimulate selectively the growth of certain bacteria of the intestinal flora favoring diverse functions of the organism.
Principally they stimulate the growth of the Lactobacillus and of the bifidobacterias in the colon.

There have been described the following prebiotic products that an extra cost can give to the food:
Inulina
Galactosacáridos
Lactulosa
Lactilol
EFFECT OF THE PREBIOTIC FOOD
Effects on the cholesterol have been described, like hipocolesterolemiantes, hipolipemiantes, direct progress of the intestinal flora, and there are big expectations as effects of improvement in the metabolism of the calcium.
Also they are very effective in the improvement of the chronic constipation, and it seems that they can have a preventive effect of the cancer of colon.
All these expectations have to of more científicamente is demonstrated but if it seems that they improve the intestinal functions and hence problems of the gastrointestinal system.
